NC Zoo to Host Herp Society
Speaking of the NC Herpetological Society, the NC Zoo will host its Spring Conference and General Meeting, April 29-30.
The first "paper" of the conference will be offered by NC Zoo curator of herpetology John D. Groves ("An Introduction to Herpetological Research at the North Carolina Zoological Park").
In the afternoon of day one, John and Jessica Foti will present "Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina) Population Survey at the NC Zoological Park".
There will also be presenters from Duke University, Miami-Dade (FL) Fire Rescue, the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, Project Bog Turtle, the NC Dept. of Transportation and Southeast GAP Analysis Project.
Topics will also include "Using Trained Dogs to Detect Rare Upland Snakes in North Carolina", "Venom One: The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Antivenom Bank" and "Anatomical and Behavioral Adaptations of Chameleons, and Adjusting Captive Conditions to Fit Their Needs".
Day two will feature field trips.
