Aspen

Speaking of my good friend Hugh Morton of Grandfather Mountain ("Look, Toys!" post of earlier today) and the proposed State cat (the cougar, mountain lion, etc. of my last post of yesterday, re: State fauna and flora), I see Aspen, the male Grandfather Mountain cougar born in 2003, is doing well there.

Ann and I saw Aspen when he was the blue-eyed youngster in this link. We ran into Hugh as we arrived near Thanksgiving, 2003. He directed us to a staffer who got us a personal visit with Aspen in a small office he was "rearranging" for them, prior to going on exhibit with the other Grandfather Mountain cougars.

Aspen loves climbing the trees in his habitat. He finds his way to the top of most. (I suspect he is also one or both of the "other cougars" pictured at the link above.)
